The swedes have a very strange sense of personal space. The radius of distance to the next person is stretched pretty far and even extends to objects and places in the vicinity. A very known case where this is extremely obvious is on the bus. A swede won’t sit on a seat next to a stranger if there are free seats available. Sometimes not even if there are no other seats available. This means the person decides to stand the entire trip (or until someone leaves a seat available) instead of sitting next to someone.
